Licht zersplittert. Bewegung vergeht.
Körper verschmilzt, zu Stein,
…wird Erinnerung,
…wird Zeit.
Wird Gedächtnis.
Evolving from Andrea Nagl’s artistic research within the framework of the 2024 art fellowship and the subsequent performance at the Natural History Museum Vienna, this new performative-installative work brings together three choreographic fragments – Dobra Gneis, a new interlude, and Origin of Life. Layered within an immersive spatial setting, the performance is accompanied by a surrounding projection composed of monochrome photographs taken from the original movement scores.
At the core lies a danced embodiment of geological time: the body traverses states of transformation, becoming stone, translating processes such as metamorphosis, folding, or anatexis into movement. Stones are carried, arranged, mirrored – culminating in moments of visual dislocation, when a molded latex form envelops the performer’s head, blurring the boundary between human and mineral presence.
Dance here sediments into gesture. Geological forms, once fixed in matter and time, are released into flow and resonance. The work revolves around contact, memory, and transformation – unfolding quietly, rhythmically, without linear narration, moving between concentration and dissolution.
A moment of being held. Of not-being-separate.
